Crazy creativity gone wild…

The following is not for the faint of heart, or in the least clean freaks beware. I give you reason 461 a parent should never leave children unattended. Not even for 10 minutes, and especially not when paint is involved.

Paint Hell #1

In the above evidence we see: a plate filled to the brim with the contents of every paint bottle we own.  Smeared red paint all over the table. And a piece of paper so saturated with paint that it seeped through onto the mat underneath.

Paint Hell #2.5

Two photos of paint on the floor. These do not cover other paint found on the floor of the kitchen and bathroom. Nor does it show me on my hands and knees scrubbing said paint with a brush and Brian mopping up after me. With the couch blocking Alex from the scene of the crime. He tried to help by swishing his hands through the dirt pile I swept up and was subsequently banished from the kitchen!

More evidence: Beautiful shiny artwork, created with use of the paint, hands were the tools of choice. Shiny because of how wet it is and because of the clear coat varnish mixed in with the paint!

Paint Hell #5

The girls did in fact try to clean up, by using the hand towels in the bathroom. Always so thoughtful!

Paint Hell #6

The surprise Brian brought home (thanks to his seller from work!). I promptly ripped open the package of the cream filled chocolate cupcakes and ate two of them! Making me feel slightly better.

Paint Hell #9

Sweet, sleeping babes….. I’m left looking at them in wonder. My children’s crazy creativity gone wild is nothing in the grand scheme of things. This will be but a memory and after while, a distant one.

Before bed, the girls said they were sorry. I hugged and kissed them and told them I forgave them and that I loved them.

This little incident, how it all played out, made me seek out the Lord. And this is what I came away with…..

I sin on a daily basis, sometimes not even realizing I am doing it. The Lord has such amazing love and grace for me and for that, I am forever thankful.

Ephesians 1:5-8 NLT

5 God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. This is what he wanted to do, and it gave him great pleasure. 6 So we praise God for the glorious grace he has poured out on us who belong to his dear Son. 7 He is so rich in kindness and grace that he purchased our freedom with the blood of his Son and forgave our sins. 8 He has showered his kindness on us, along with all wisdom and understanding.

Looking forward to a nice, quiet night!

  • Oh, what a beautiful post! I can totally relate to how frustrating it must have been to find paint everywhere. Ugh.

But then to get them all cleaned up and see them sleeping like angels…there’s nothing sweeter, huh?

I’m glad you got those cupcake things; you deserved them!!!

  • Brandi:

Ooooh, the messes that our home has seen, lol! In fact, today we are painting a new coat of Breezy Blue in Trey’s room to cover up where Audrey took a dry erase marker to the wall.

Can you send me one of those cupcakes?!? They look divine!

    Have a good mess-free(hopefully) day!
