Summer Schedule Take #1
Very late last night I decided to take a friend’s advice. First I started taking my vitamins again. Second I decided that a schedule, wait, let’s call it a guideline, would help me out. This idea isn’t new to me, in fact is has been suggested to me before. But I never truly took it to heart before. Now that I’ve been struggling a bit, I decided that it was time to give it a whirl.
I had no idea where to start, but never fear, that is why Google is here! I typed in “kids summer schedule” into the search box and hit enter. That is how I happened upon Pretty Organized Palace. I liked what I saw there, though I would need to make some changes. I ended up with the following:
Summer Schedule
7:00- Wake up, Family Scripture study, Get dressed, Make bed/Clean room
7:45- Breakfast and Clean-up
8:30- Morning Exercise- walk, ride bike, run, outdoor games etc.
9:00- Pick up house. (Motivated Moms Planner, Girls get 1 job each)
10:00- Practice Homework and Personal reading. (Mom time-Internet, crochet, TV, phone)
11:00- Outside Play or Swim
12:00- Lunch
12:30- Alex nap
1:00- Brain Fun: Board games, friends, building toys, play outside, crafts or art activity.
2:30- Wii Free time, play outside. (Mom time-Internet, crochet, TV, phone)
4:30- Pick up house. (Motivated Moms Planner, Girls get 1 job each)
5:00- Dinnertime jobs- set table, dinner prep
5:30- Dinner and Clean-up
7:00- Alex bed, Girls: free time, play outside, movie or personal reading (Mom time-Internet, crochet, TV, phone)
8:30- Girls bed. (Mom & Dad time- TV, Movie, Play games)
So I get to bed after 1am. I was too excited about getting this schedule all together. That and I had to play a few games of Bejeweled Blitz on Facebook, seriously addicting.
Alex woke up at 6am and would not go back to sleep. The girls actually slept in this morning and I wasn’t about to wake them up on purpose. Because of Alex’s early morning he took a nap super early. Then we had Kelly, Griffen and Carson over for an impromptu playdate.
I got through some of the schedule, I mean guidline, and it was good. Very good, especially the part where we all read the Bible! Alex got his board book Bible and actually sat for 2 stories! Brianna read Ephesians 1. Katie looked through one of the kid’s Bible’s we have. I even got some reading and devotion in!
That alone screams sweet success!
Oh and Brianna cleaned out the van and Katie washed the walls up the stairs and in the kitchen. The TV and the computer were not touched until 10am!
Very sweet success!
I’m going to love this guideline!

I’m glad that worked out! I think I hear “Can I watch tv?” or “…play video games?” about 32 times a day, so I think we need a “guideline” there too!
Yay!!
Oooooh, I may have to steal that schedule for Sat-Mon while I am at home. I like it!
Great plan V. You are making steps that are in the right direction for you and your family. Be proud.

I thrive on schedules. When I allow myself to get off for dumb reasons, I’m just off.
