Who needs power steering?

My van decided that I didn’t, right when I was turning in the middle of an intersection yesterday morning after dropping the girls off at school. My wheel completely locked up and I was headed straight for a pole, thankfully, I was able to veer as much to the left as I could to avoid the pole. That left me in the grass of the shopping plaza right by my house. I stayed relatively calm and called Brian. He conferred with a co-worker, Cliff, who knows a lot about cars. They were on their way to me, which I freaked!

Why you may ask, did I freak out at the thought of being seen by one of Brian’s co-workers. Because I had just rolled out of bed prior to bringing the girls to school. My hair was held back only by a blue and white gingham and strawberries headband, sticking straight-up beyond the headband and not matching my dark green shirt or black Adidas shorts. I also had no bra on, and having a big chest to begin with as well as nursing 3 babies, you can imagine how low those babies hang! I was so mortified at the prospect of Cliff seeing me that way that I braved it and by sheer will and determination got my van back to my house so that I could freshen up!

They started out in the street and then Brian and Cliff pushed it up the driveway, with me at the steering wheel, which is very hard with no power steering, my arms hurt after doing that!

I made sure I took lots of pictures of Alex, Brian and Cliff. Who despite his best efforts, some of which occurred during the pouring rain, could not fix the van. We ended up having to get it towed. A new serpentine belt, water pump and something else later, my van was all fixed by that evening. If only it hadn’t cost us $500+, seriously, I hate when cars break!

And for your viewing pleasure, the following is how I spent my morning yesterday. Holding umbrella’s over Cliff and Brian and trying to keep Alex out of the way!

I’m glad this whole shenanigan is over and my van is fixed, safe and sound in my garage. She better not break again anytime soon!

I was wondering where you were yesterday. Missed you. Glad it is all worked out….the car and the lack of bra thing. Ha!

  • How was the Ester study? I need to go online and watch because one of the girls has a soccer game during the Saturday one. The car thing happened Tues. morning. I missed Bible study because Alex was sick. Are you going sky diving this weekend, or just Clay??
