Saturday night we had some surprises in store for the children.

We had a couple of gift cards to Max and Erma’s laying around so we went out to dinner. It was crowded with what we assume to be Homecoming Dance teens out on the town. We managed to get a table relatively quickly though and the kids devoured their chicken fingers and fries. I got my fave sandwich, the Tomato Mozzarella Chicken and thoroughly enjoyed every last bite! Brian got a Philly Cheese steak, good but not as good as the real thing. The girls finished the meal with the sundae bar!

Next up on the agenda was a trip to the pet store. We took a look at all the fish, which Alex absolutely loves. Saw some birds, guinea pigs, hamsters, mice, snakes and lizards. Then Brian took the girls to check out the other things available while Alex accompanied me on my quest. We acquired 2 winter white hamsters and some bedding. We already had cages, tubes and food from our Dora days.

We came home and the kids had no idea we had gotten these hamsters. Brian took them upstairs to get pjs on as I got all the stuff out and put together. Then I called them downstairs and the girls were shocked and happy!

Katie actually said to Brian, “Daddy I’m going to cry.” Brian asked why. She said, “Because I’m so happy!”

Alex squealed in delight.

Brianna grinned from ear to ear.

This morning I walked into their closet, where the new family members currently reside on top of the dresser and found the following scene.

Aly and Felicity (otherwise known as Bitey, because she loves to, well, bite.)

I’m praying these hamsters don’t escape like Dora did!
