Potty Training Alex: Day 6

Alex wakes up a little after 9am.

We rush to the potty, take off his soggy night time dipe and he goes pee with great success.

On goes the underwear, Thomas the train to be exact, though he has never once watched the show. Is that show still on?

About 20 minutes later I ask the big question, “Alex, do you need to go pee pee?”

He answers with a resounding “NO!”

I tell him he should just try.

Off to the potty we run. Shorts and underwear down. Sits on the potty. Pees.

We both exclaim, “Yay, pee pee!”

This is the way it goes all morning and he manages to stay dry!

After lunch he’s playing out in the backyard. He comes to the sliding glass door to let me know he’s wet.

Strip off the wet stuff and get ready for the pool.

We go to the pool.

He goes potty twice there.

He puts on some Finding Nemo underwear when he’s done swimming.

Falls asleep on the way home. Put him in a diaper while he’s still asleep for his nap.

Wakes up, Brian takes him to the potty as I’m at Walmart. Brian calls me to let me know Alex is complaining about having to poop.

He has a pee accident when I get home from Walmart.

Football underwear this time.

Goes pee without issues until bedtime.

Night time diaper on.

*I would never have purposely started potty training Alex as he just turned 2 and the girls didn’t have success until 2.5 to 3yrs. But.. he has been leading the way on this. I’m excited. Praying it goes smoothly and that he’ll start going #2 on the potty too!*

Yay! I am going to start potty training in a few weeks (not now because I just don’t have time for it). I hope we have as much success as you are having!

  • Vic:

What a big step(: good luck and hope it goes swellll! Once the stage is over it’s smooth sailing:)

  • I was not looking forward to potty training my son at all. So I really put it off until I had no choice and he was ready to do it himself. I have been lucky and had maybe two accidents since he started! Congrats to you for getting him started so young.

Stopping by to say hello from SITS!

    good luck! that sounds awesome!
we are working on night time, which is harder…you can’t really teach them to stay dry at night. it’s so frustrating….
