My Time!
This weekend was MY TIME!
On Saturday, I had the pleasure of joining 13 other women at the Harrison House Bed and Breakfast in downtown Columbus for a Twilight Moms overnight.
We had the most wonderful time, meeting new people and spending time with those we already knew and obsessing over all things Twilight. In fact, I only knew one person before going. My friends and Brian thought I was crazy, but I knew I would have a lot of fun and I did just that!
Lynn, the owner of the B&B, told us the history of the house, that the Anthony Thomas candy family had lived in the home at one time, about the 4 spirits (Cedric, Jakob, Moby and a woman) who currently resided there. Cedric liked to smoke and occasionally you would walk through the upstairs and smell cigarette smoke briefly. I smelled it a few times in different areas and before I fell asleep, I smelled smoke in our room for about 15 seconds. The woman spirit likes to sit on the beds, leaving behind a butt print. Our linens were smoothed out and there were two butt prints left on my roommate Mandy and I’s bed in the Meadow Room. It was very creepy but cool.
We watched Twilight, New Moon and Eclipse. Had oven fried chicken, salad and mushroom ravioli for dinner. Cupcakes, complete with Team Jacob and Team Edward rings in the icing. Lots of wine, though I didn’t have any. I did have some vodka and strawberry banana though!
The coordinators, Kendra and Lori, did an amazing job! They even made sure we had some swag to take home with us. An Eclipse cup, magnets, bookmarks, stickers.Twilight Sweethearts. One girl made chocolate chess pieces in honor of Breaking Dawn. Another girl contributed a Twilight Blend of coffee. And Lori made floral arrangements for all of the rooms and we got to take them home with us.
Sunday came way too quickly and before I knew it, we needed to pack up and go our separate ways. I came away with new friendships and memories.
I look forward to the next Twilight Moms get together.
I also look forward to next weekend when it becomes MY TIME again with a scrapbooking/craft weekend at LCC, Friday night and all day Saturday.
Sometimes it’s nice to take off the Mom hat and take a little break to refresh.
MY TIME was definitely worth it.
Blah, blah, blah. Yadda, yadda, yadda.
Once again you would think I fell off the face of the planet. Maybe I did. No, I’m still here and kicking. Falling asleep super early these days and not having a whole ton of energy. I think the shorter days and the early darkness are having their way with me and I’m letting them win.I fell asleep watching TV around 9:30 the other night. Crazy I know.
And no, I am not pregnant
My hands have been working like busy little bees and the following is what I have to show for it.
Forest Wool Longies (size small)
Harvest Wool Longies (size medium)
Yes, not only were they completed but also listed on Etsy. Aren’t I productive?! Click on the descriptions to be taken there! I also have a blue one in medium but I need to pick up some more yarn. It’s 80% done.
I feel like the last few weeks I have only posted in three categories. May Angel Star Crochet, Writing and Wordless Wednesday.
You know what, that is okay, because that’s what I’ve got going on here. It is, what it is.
As for the next installment of Set Free, I’ve been toying with the idea of posting the beginning of the story. Would you like that?
Oh and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 starts showing tonight at Midnight. I will be there! Jacked up on caffeine, no doubt, but there nonetheless.
The best blueberry muffins evah!
Awhile back I went out with some friends, Kelly and Tammy to be exact.
We had an exciting desperately needed girls night out planned.
First a fantastically yummy Teriyaki Marinated Sirloin accompanied by some mashed potatoes and a salad doused in ranch at Outback. I had my first martini ever, Strawberry Passion. It was good, real good.
We then made our way to the dollar theater and watched Date Night. Yeah, that was hilarious. You must see it!
Our night wasn’t complete though, we ended it with a bang, yeah, that’s right, we went to Walmart!
I was in the mood to be healthy and fun. I loaded up my cart with apples, bananas, peaches, nectarines, strawberries, blueberries, carrots, and sugar snap peas. Super proud of myself and couldn’t wait to bite into those nectarines, they smelled absolutely amazing!
One problem, the kids don’t really like blueberries.
They turned up their noses when I brought out the full fresh pint. Well two out of three did. Alex wanted some, I obliged by placing a few on his plate. He tasted, made a face and said, “No like it,” and then proceeded to spit out the smooshed blueberry. Gross!
So I did what I needed to do.
I googled “blueberry muffins made from scratch” and clicked on a few recipes.
I ultimately decided on this one, the best blueberry muffin recipe evah!
Seriously these are amazing! You must try them. You will never go back to your regularly scheduled muffin recipe again!
The best part, the kids devoured them. As did Brian and I. I also had to give some to Jason, Daph and Beth.
They thought they were amazing too!
I think I may need to go out and buy some blueberries. It would make a great treat for the girls teachers.
I can’t believe they start school this week. Where did the summer go?

Summer Shenanigans Volume 1
Our rainy day turned out to be a whole lot of fun!
We ended up going to the movies at the dollar theater and getting there late, so we got tickets to Alice in Wonderland.
The new movie and time gave us 40 minutes to kill.
Brianna had noticed a Petland from the parking lot and suggested we go there.
The following ensued:
The girls fell in love with a kitten.
So did I. We all took turns holding and snuggling the cute little thing.
Sadly, Brian has already said the following many times over:
“Read my lips, no more pets!”

Alex touched the kitten for a millisecond before running amok in the store!
Too many animals to see.
Too many balls to take off the shelves!
Katie has been talking about this kitten non-stop. She desperately wants to bring it home.
She even came up with a plan of having her Nana bring her so she could buy it with her own money!

Alex enjoyed following this turtle all over the store.
This was one quick turtle too, it went everywhere.
Up and down aisles, from the front to the back of the store.
Brianna proud and in awe of the sweet sleeping kitty!
Katie wasn’t impressed, she was ready to take her turn regardless of waking the kitten from her nap!

I made sure we sat in the back so that if Alex disturbed the peace I could take him out of the theater.
We all shared a big drink and a medium popcorn.
Passed it back and forth.
Katie and Alex needed booster seats to see.
About 5 minutes into the movie Alex decided he was ready to run from seat to seat.
He climbed up on one and got stuck!
So I took him to the hallway.
Then back to the movie where I held and rocked him in the back until he fell asleep 30 minutes in.
He woke up during the credits.
The girls and I enjoyed Alice in Wonderland.
I like Tim Burton and Johnny Depp is always a classic in quirky roles!
