The 2009-2010 school year comes to an end…

Katie has graduated kindergarten and will be moving on to first grade next school year! This is a huge blessing. She was behind the first half of the year and made tremendous progress second half. With continued tutoring from Miss Lenox (her kindy teacher) and at home she will do great next year! She also got perfect attendance all year!

Brianna has conquered the second grade! Not only did she get perfect attendance, she was on the all “A” honor roll for the year! I am incredibly proud of her hard work and dedication! She also got a pin for participating in the young author olympics, which she got 2nd place in.

Katie spent the last day of school with a pancake breakfast.

She received a graduation certificate and a mini photo album.

We finished the day with the 2nd-7th grade awards.

I almost missed Brianna getting her awards because Alex was exercising his right to be almost 2 (Sunday is his birthday) with a major tantrum. I spent most of the awards in the lobby, running in to take pictures when Brianna was on stage.

Miss Lenox surprised with OSU “Coach Tressel” (aka my friend Kelly’s Dad who looks just like Jim Tressel) and being awarded the Outstanding Teacher Buckeye Award. The manila envelope contains letters the kids wrote to “Coach Tressel” with why they think Miss Lenox should get the award. Katie’s read: Dear Coach, I like Miss Lenox because I love her. I like her teaching and stuff. From: Katie.

All in all it was a good day.

Another school year down.

It’s bittersweet.

The sound of crickets…

It’s been a tad bit longer than two months since I updated this blog.

I have had things to say, just haven’t taken the time to do it.

Lots of happenings around the *Q* Household.

Alex breaking his arm on Easter. Poor boy feel off a chair, at least that is the story his sisters told. I knew something serious was wrong when he didn’t want to put on his new baseball glove. He also wouldn’t hold a baseball in his right hand, would just tuck it into the crook of his elbow.

His cast looking tough, after my creative thinking. Making a stencil out of the Phillies “P” and coloring it in with a black Sharpie!

Thankfully he only had to wear it for a little over 4 weeks! He was a champ and it didn’t really affect him much at all. Though he did have to forgo wearing the new baseball glove for awhile. He had no problem throwing though!

Made a few crochet items.. A hat for Todd and Sarah’s baby (don’t have a picture).

A hat and blanket for Jason and Daphne’s baby:

And another similar blanket that I have for sale on Etsy.

In other news.. I turned 30!

Brian went all out and threw me a surprise party. Walking into the darkened house and having a ton of my friends yell surprise was very cool. I felt so loved! We had a cook-out and the kids played. My friends know me so well too. Got gift cards to Starbucks, AMC, Joanne’s and got a Twilight Saga: New Moon Wolf Pack shirt!

I’m going to be watching our neighbor’s son Cole during the summer. He is 5 and the kids love playing with him. He was practically part of the family already. It’s going to be a fun summer!

This is the girls last week of school! Yesterday we had the end of the year zoo trip. We hung out with Alannah (Brianna’s good friend) and her mom. Alannah is moving out of state next week so the girls are trying to spend a lot of time together. Cole was with us as well. The kids had a blast and we got to see the new Polar bear exhibit for the first time. Every year they get a stuffed animal from the gift shop. This year they all got polar bears.

There was a lot more going on.

Now I forget.

I should have just blogged, but such is life.

I hope to be more consistent now!

The Barf Fairy

Last night I washed and conditioned Katie’s hair. Got out all the knots, snarls, fuzz and whatever else had started taking up residence in the nest she called her ponytail.  Put it in a new high ponytail, braided it, and wrapped it in a bun secured by bobby pins.

I slept peacefully in a Nyquil induced coma until I was awoken by Katie trying to tell me that there was something on her pillow. I was too out of it to understand and it takes me awhile to come back to reality after having Nyquil so I told her to talk to her Dad. She told him the same thing and he got up to investigate.

Brian came in to let me know that Katie had thrown up all over her bed. That it was mostly dried as she had apparently slept in it and that was what was on her pillow. I vaguely remember saying, “um, okay” before shutting my eyes.

He came back frantic that I get out of bed to take her hair out because she obviously had dried barf in it. I got up to find her in the tub. First I checked the bed, sure enough lots of vomit, gross. But it was mostly on the sheets and the very bottom of her pillow. I stripped the bed of everything that needed washed. Brian came in and told me he didn’t want me to strip the bed, he needed me to deal with Katie’s dried vomit hair.

With my glasses resting on my nightstand rendering me blind, I bent down until my eyes were close enough to see the damage. I checked every square inch of her head.

“There is nothing on her hair!” I proclaimed with sheer happiness.

It was a miracle!

Brian didn’t believe me. Because the evidence of the bed all pointed to the fact that it had to be in her hair. I let him know repeatedly that thankfully that wasn’t the case. He could see for himself had he actually looked at her head instead of assuming.

I shuffled back to our room.

It was 7am.

I went back to bed.

Katie doesn’t believe she threw-up. Her reasoning being that her mouth was closed. I told her it was definitely barf. She said no, it must have been the detangler I put in her hair. I told her detangler didn’t have chunks of chicken in it. She swears she didn’t barf. So I told her I believed her.

We came to the conclusion that it must have been the barf fairy.

We decided we like the tooth fairy better.

We prefer money!
