My brilliant idea..

Yeah.. So we had no idea what to get Brian’s Dad and stepmom for Christmas and since they will be with us this year, we had to figure it out.. So yesterday I came up with the brilliant idea to scrapbook our beach pictures for them. It was the girls first real trip to the beach, then I got the brilliant idea to scrap every picture we have of of ever visit with them.. Yesterday I had 300+ pictures printed and that was just of our time with them last summer and spring.. I have a ton more.. Anyway, there is no way I’m going to get every single picture done.. But I figure, that is ok.. I will start on the ones I have.. Then every gift giving opportunity to them will be more pages for their scrapbook!

I seriously love scrapbooking, and I love giving scrapbooks as gifts.. Expensive, but awesome, and I would rather put a ton of money into a scrapbook than into something they may or may not like or use..

It is so special! My Aunt Freda loved the book I made for her. It was pictures of her and I from our first meeting when I was a baby to, present day with her and the girls and just writing how much I love and appreciate having her in my life and writing down my memories next to the pictures.. She was literally in tears! She told me it was the best gift she has ever gotten in her life! For someone who is very reaction oriented like I am, that was the best gift to me ever.. Her reaction was priceless to me 🙂

Anyway, I started cropping those 300+ pictures this morning.. This project is going to take a lot of time.. But maybe since I won’t be going all out with elaborate decoration of the pages, I will get better at just getting the pics on the paper, something I have a hard time doing with the girl’s albums!

  1. Awesome V!! ITA with you on doing & giving scrapbooks! I did one for SIL last year, and wanted to do one for MIL this year, but it was too late in the game (Very time consuming, as you know!)

I am in the middle of making a frame with misc pics of the kids for FIL/MIL….It is all laying out in the floor, and I am taking a break as well 😉

  2. That is such a wonderfull, personal gift.
I made a “Grandkids” scrapbook for my mom a few years ago for mother’s day. I did a page for each of her (at the time 19, soon to be 21 now) grandchildren and had them all fill out a questionaire about themselves and write her a personal letter. She loved it so much.
I need to scrapbook more often. You should post pictures of all the beautiful pages you’re making to inspire me. Lol!

  3. That will be an awesome gift and very cherished!

I am so behind on my scrapbooking. I have not scrapbooked since before Tyler was born.
